"HOW MANY KINGS?"

I had to post a link to the blog site for one of the band members of Downhere. www.jeremythiessen.typepad.com/weblog/2007/12/new-christmas-s.html On his site he has a player in which you can listen to the song 'How Many Kings.' I have included the words below, but would love for you to get to listen to it in its entirety with the words. I am so in awe of God's love for each one of us as His children when I listen to this song. Jesus came into this world and instead of proclaiming His glory He laid it all down for each one of us----who else would do that for us?

Our Sunday school lesson last week only confirms what the song says.

We all know that John 3:16 says:

"For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

Verse 17 goes on to say:

"For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him."

When I think of how Jesus walked perfectly on this earth as the Son of God, yet loved us so much he gave up all of His rights as God and "stepped down from His throne, abandoned His home, became the least for me, poured out His heart to romance a world that is torn all apart, and gave up His son for me" I can't help but to be humbled and feel as though I am undeserving of that kind of love. It also reminds me that I am to strive to be like Christ and be light as He was (and is) light and to show His love to others (Even when at times I may not want to). I can only rely totally on God in order to even attempt to do that.

That is my challenge; to love others as God loves me and I would challenge all who read this to do the same. It is easy to love people we are fond of, but try to love someone that you may not normally be inclined to love on your own. Make it a matter of prayer for God to change your heart and help you.
Philippians 4:13 " I can do everything through Him who gives me strength."

HOW MANY KINGS
Follow the star to a place unexpected
Would you believe after all we’ve projected
A child in a manger
Lowly and small, the weakest of all
Unlikeliest hero, wrapped in his mothers shawl
Just a child
Is this who we’ve waited for?

Cause how many kings, stepped down from their thrones?
How many lords have abandoned their homes?
How many greats have become the least for me?
How many Gods have poured out their hearts
To romance a world that has torn all apart?
How many fathers gave up their sons for me?

Bringing our gifts for the newborn savior
All that we have whether costly or meek
Because we believe
Gold for his honor and frankincense for his pleasure
And myrrh for the cross he’ll suffer
Do you believe, is this who we’ve waited for?
It’s who we’ve waited for

How many kings, stepped down from their thrones?
How many lords have abandoned their homes?
How many greats have become the least for me?
How many Gods have poured out their hearts
To romance a world that has torn all apart?
How many fathers gave up their sons for me?

Only one did that for me

All for me
All for you
All for me
All for you

Hey! Thanks so much for posting about this song - it's been neat to see how the Lord's been using it to challenge and encourage so many people. Please pray that He would continue to do so through this song and the ones to follow (we're releasing a new record this fall... forgive the shameless plug!). You have a beautiful family!
