Out of the mouths of babes....

Since the topic of being old has been brought up, I thought I'd share a couple funny conversations I've had with my boys recently.

While driving in the car one day, I noticed Kyle staring at me. I smiled, thinking he is happy to have me for a mom or appreciating the time we were spending together. He took his hand and touched my hair and said, "Wow, Mom, you sure do have a lot of white hairs in there. You're getting really old!" Of course I was devastated and speechless. He started to cheer so I asked why he was cheering and he told me that the older I am, the older he is. He then reminded me that in just nine more years he'll be 18!!! I guess he doesn't realize 1. I don't want to be "old" 2. I pay good money NOT to have white hairs 3. I'm not ready for him to be 18 or even be thinking about him as an 18 year old.

Another story:
Kyle and Jacob came to me yesterday morning and told me I HAVE to look at all the "slippery silver hairs in Dad's head." They walked me over to him and begged me to try to pull one out. They told me that I can't do it because they are way to slippery to grab ahold of. It was quite a game--they were having a ball trying to pull out the hair!! What is wrong with them???

At least they are equal oppotunity offenders......

he actually took it pretty well and did crack a smallish grin. He has come to accept his aging and is trying to do it gracefully!!
